The defend limits will be set commensurate with the faction size. Larger factions will have 2 defend slots, smaller ones will have 1. This may seem low, compared to the "9 and 2" of the previous NBT(s), but in reality, since everything is a multi-drop affair now (with 5 drops per night the expected norm, similar to MRBC), it should be in line with realistic activity levels.

The normal "overage" rule still applies for teams that want more activity -- your defend limit matches your number of attacks (once your attacks exceed your minimum defend limits). So, for example, if a team takes MoC, which will have 1 defend limit, and they want to have 4 actions active at a time, they are free to attack twice to open up a second defend. They will still have to tidy up those actions within the allotted number of days (probably still 7 for raids and 10 days to begin assaults, with 72 hours to schedule each) but this allows teams to manage their own activity levels without hamstringing them on the offensive or requiring them to maintain an unrealistic level of activity (the 9 and 2 rule was a holdover from the old MW4 days of NBT, and times are different now).

Yes...with a caveat.

On July 18th, signups will open.

The reason for this is PGI, and the nature of NBT. Given that we are not like other tournament-style leagues, and what you can take into battle depends on what you have purchased and put into play (as opposed to whatever fits into a particular weight class, for example), I realized I can't just have people set up their space and make plans based on the massive shift in technology that will be available starting July 18th; PGI is guaranteed to make changes a month later that are significant enough to make whole swaths of someone's store of combat equipment essentially worthless (and this assumes that we all know what we want anyway, which is not a given considering the scale of changes in store for the 18th).

With that in mind, I want to give everyone a month to see what is good/not-good, make educated guesses about what PGI will nerf/buff in the August patch, and not finalize their faction setups (and start the league in earnest) until after the August patch. The alternative would be to do a complete reset in August anyway, so why go through the bother.

Which is not to say there will not be action available; I could definitely use PTS-style help with the various systems, and certainly with the economic and military balance, that should also be performed before a league starts for real. For example, how much money is too much, and how many mechs does a faction of a given size really need?

So on July 18th, signups will begin and PTS activity with the combat and other systems will commence, but we can't start a full league until PGI does at least one balance pass.

I hope that makes sense and doesn't sound like a copout. ;)

What about the issue with the amount of matches in a given span of real time? Considering the amount of 'burnout' that occurred this most recent run of NBT I would hope this is being discussed or considered within the automation

Well, it has been over a decade. It is good to see this place still kicking and see those of you posting even if some of these posts are from 2015-2016.

Trying to remember who I was with is not easy these days.

Clan Cloud Cobra
Clan Ghost Bear (pretty sure)
Clan Hells Horses
Clan Diamond Shark (I met Doll and her husband back when I was a little brat of a kid)
Some pirate or merc or IS units that I cant remember the names of.

I see Deejay posted, whats up buddy!

I went by Toramano_PB_Tseng, Poolboy, Pestilence, Stengobloopy.

Good times. Kinda miss raiding. Gimmie that Scat!
