Automation Rookie Question: Getting planetside
« on: October 14, 2015, 03:59:51 AM »
So, my first time as an automation player, although a long time member of the league.

Couple of quick questions....

1. We set up a force on a JS intending to sprinkle it across multiple sectors of a planet cor a bunch of small matches.  Confirming that was probably incorrect right? Each attack requires its own JS to launch from?

2. We conducted a recon that was undetected (so no fight).  That means that force has used up its minor battle limit for the time frame?

3.  How long are mechs committed, or how low long is a turn? One week?

Its my own goof here. We put around 60 mechs on a JS, jumped it to a planet with multiple sectors and hoped to trigger a series of small fights, but I am guessing we needed to send a JS with a smaller package for each intended fight instead.

each battle requires its own jumpship, yes.

I think the battle limit is concurrent and isn't for any particular length of time.

Mechs are committed until the battle is registered as completed and the results are posted. Attackers have to confirm twice.

Someone else can probably clarify if I am off in my understanding.

With all Jumps there is a 15% chance that the jump itself will not be detected.

IF that jump was for a RECON raid and the jump was not detected then the recon is free, its the only raid that that can happen on.

According to my understanding.

Hmmm then that means we should be able to do at least a raid with thw forces on board which doesnt seem to be the case.

You cannot attack from orbit, another ship would have to jump on from elsewhere.

Ok thanks for the clarification X.

"Note to self....don't put 60 mechs on a JS being sent for one recon lol."

Ok, follow-up question....

The JS seem charged and clearly none of the mechs have been in combat.

Split the forces into two JS and trying to launch the JS at adjacent sectors for more recons/raids but getting the following message:

"Minor Battle Limit Reached
For Destination Unit"

How long before they're unlocked.  They've been not fighting overhead for a couple of days now lol.

It depends on what unit you are talking about. Some clans are semi-active, which means they have a max of 5 minor and 1 PA defend, all others except CDS are fully active which means 9 minor and 1 PA. When those are cleared depends on when they complete those pending battles. Whether or not the mechs on your ships have been in battle is not relevant in any case.

Ah ok, so the "destination unit" in this case is our prospective opponent, not our Mechs at issue.

Does that mean if we jump that we end up "queuing up" for a future fight with them when their mechs come available or is it just a jump that ends up uncontested?

Is there a limit on how often they can go semi-active or how many times?  They literally just came out of their last semi-active state a few days ago and already they are semi-active again.  It would help with planning so I don't waste my time moving fleets into position just to have a group go semi-active over and over again.

I will leave it up to the team in question to comment if they like; I do not want to discuss any reasons for teams going in- or semi-active in public.

There is no hard limit, no, but there is a soft limit before admin will take action.
