SO an ally just got attacked and we would like to jump to it.  However, our jumpship will not be ready to jump for 8 hours, want to make sure I am not jumping to this planet to arrive late.

Understood. Right now you have to do mental time-arithmetic (the battle-launched time is in Eastern), but I had thought about that the other night, too -- it would be nice to have something that just told you "there are this many hours and seconds before lockdown". I'll work on that.

Also know that the 18-hour window is not absolute; whether or not reinforcements can jump in or not, is currently based on the battle status, which is not set until I run the forcedecs (which is manual, at this time, but will be automated soon). So the 18-hour window is a minimum; if someone were to launch an attack right after I ran the forcedecs on, say, a Friday, then you could jump in reinforcements until I run them again on Saturday (so it could possibly be as much as 24 hours in reality).

I will announce the change to an automated forcedec-generation system once I have one working, but for now, it's still manual.

There is currently a battle on illushin in Taurian Concordant, if I jump around 10 PM EDT tonight will our unit be able to get forces to this battle in time to assist our ally?

Since we just got our warning today if you jump in 8 hours you should be good still. As it was said there is an 18  hour window +/- to get troops in.

Added -- when you click Battle Reporting in your automation UI, the list should show (under the Attack Date) the time remaining until forcedec is "eligible" for generation. For example, "T-13:53" means "13 hours, 53 minutes remaining".

good add! Would be nice to see it for battles we don't own yet, but this is better than nothing.
