NBT-MWO alpha rules
« on: August 15, 2015, 02:55:39 PM »
Is there any ETA on when they will be posted? Or are they posted somewhere and I am too blind to find them? Or should I just anticipate the old MW4 rules to the same?

For example I've, obviously, been doing my best to read up on how the FRR functions in NBT. And I ran across this..

Quote
COMSTAR UNITS – The two units in this category are Word of Blake and the Free Rasalhague Republic (by way of ComStar being located on Tukayyid).  Both of these units are responsible for all communications services that take place within the Inner Sphere. As such, while both units are very small, they receive monthly income from the IS Houses and Periphery.  Each House and Periphery unit makes a choice as to which ComStar unit they will make use of, if any.  That ComStar unit then receives a portion of the maintenance cost for EACH planet in that unit’s space. A ComStar unit may also Interdict communications within a units space, causing planetary maintenance to increase exponentially due to the lack of interstellar communications.  These 2 units survive by means of their political savvy, rather than sheer brute force.

FRR and WoB will both receive a set amount of startup tonnage, just like any other unit. After the league has been in operation for 1 month, they will receive a second pack of ‘Mechs to be placed throughout their allies space. This represents the presence of the ComGuards thoughout the Inner Sphere.

ComStar Units: For the first month of the league, the planets owned by Word of Blake and Free Rasahuague Republic will not be attackable by Planetary Assaults. After 30 days they are fair game. This is to give time for the IS and Periphery units to figure out their ComStar alliances, as well as for the ComGuard allotment of ‘Mechs to be delivered and activated throughout the Inner Sphere.

I have questions about the interplay between the ComStar units (which the site also says are who the admins belong to?) and the FRR. And about the 30 days of no planetary assaults allowed on my HOME PLANET(s).

I do not believe that we are starting the alpha with Comstar.

Queenblade is working on the rules cleanup, I'll get an ETA and post back.

So just to be clear.

The FRR will be in play just not Comstar? Or is the FRR considered a ComStar unit?

There will not be a Comstar unit (as in, "run" by admin). FRR is a separate unit, free to do FRR things. ;)

Okay thanks. That is what I figured, but one of my members became alarmist and hysterical.

The Rules pages under Attacks and Battles note 5-9 pilots in several places... just confirming we aren't going higher than 8v8, correct ??

Fixed -- let us know if there are any other places that still mention 9 pilots.

Drop tonnages are really important for planetary and dropship management, so mostly wanting to know if what is currently on the site is what is planned, or if they are changing in the rewrite?

It's rare, but it can happen. You don't have to take 750 if you don't want, or don't have it.

How is that determined, though? Is it always 750 max, or does it vary by planet, or does it vary randomly?

IIRC, the automation generates details like tonnage and lets you know.
